Established in 1955, the University of Florida English Language Institute (UFELI) has been serving international students for more than 50 years. The UFELI is located in Gainsville on the beautiful campus of the University of Florida where strong academic quality, excellent research opportunities, and a warm, sunny climate attract the more than 50,000 students who attend UF.

Academic Program

• All faculty hold MAs or PhDs
• Full-time students take 23 hours per week of classes in grammar, reading/writing, and listening/speaking.
• Six to ten levels of each of the three skills are taught.
• Students learn to read and write academic-level materials; speak more fluently; take clear notes; take objective tests; and function knowledgeably in U.S. and campus culture.

Additional Services

• Daily afternoon activities and a cultural excursion each weekend are available to students.
• Students have use of UF libraries, computer labs, and other facilities.
• Housing assistance, student life advising, and academic advising is available if needed.
